Our Mission : Food, Education, Medicine
Emmanuel International Malawi, in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP) and with funding from the German and Norwegian Governments, is implementing the Anticipatory Action Activation in Response to Forecasted Drought (AAP) programme in Zomba District. The programme aims to protect vulnerable farming households from the impacts of forecasted drought by providing timely support before the crisis deepens. In December last year, beneficiary farmers with land sizes of half an acre and above received maize seed and fertilizer to support early planting and strengthen household food production. As families continue to tend their crops and await the upcoming harvest, the programme has advanced to a critical support phase. Beneficiaries are now receiving cash assistance to help them meet essential household needs during the rainy season, a period often marked by food and income shortages. The recent cash distribution exercise at Mwandama was attended by the WFP Country Director, Dr. Hyoung-Joon Lim, who observed the activity and engaged with community members. The cash support is helping households cope during the lean period while safeguarding their farming investments.Through the AAP programme, Emmanuel International Malawi and its partners are demonstrating the power of anticipatory action, reducing vulnerability, strengthening resilience and ensuring that communities are better prepared to withstand climate-related shocks.
