Planting Trees for Community Resilience in Zomba District

The Zomba District Forestry Office, with support from Britam Insurance Company and Emmanuel International Malawi, conducted a tree planting exercise at Maulana Village, G.V.H. Matache under Senior Chief Chikowi in Zomba District under the theme “Trees and Forests for Community Resilience.”The event was graced by Britam Insurance Company CEO, Mr. Wales Meja, and Emmanuel International Malawi Country Director, Mr. Charles Mukiwa, alongside local leaders and community members. Participants planted tree seedlings as part of ongoing efforts to restore degraded landscapes, prevent soil erosion, and strengthen community resilience to the impacts of climate change.This initiative highlights the importance of multi-stakeholder partnerships in promoting environmental conservation and sustainable development. The trees planted will contribute to improved ecosystems, enhanced livelihoods, and long-term environmental protection for the community.
