Emmanuel international Malawi in partnership with CAVOWC recently organized a two-day Marketing Training for 25 Village Agents from 5 Traditional Authorities (TAs) under the Titukule Azimai project. The project aims to empower women and strengthen their financial independence in the communities they serve. These Village Agents are representatives of Village Savings and Loans (VSL) groups, mainly working with women who have survived Gender-Based Violence (GBV). The training aims to help these women by encouraging them to join savings and loan groups and to improve their financial skills.During the training, the Community Development Assistance taught a lot of things, village Agents learned a variety of important topics. These included understanding financial literacy and how to set achievable financial goals. They also discussed how to identify income and expenses, and the difference between needs and wants. Participants learned how to create savings plans, develop budgets, and review those budgets regularly. Other topics covered were financial services available to women, developing seasonal calendars for farming and business activities, and principles of responsible borrowing. The training also focused on marketing, customer care, and managing their own money versus borrowed money.Additionally, the training covered quality management, business planning, and cash flow projection. Guest speakers from the Agri-business and Trade offices shared valuable insights to support women’s economic activities and improve their livelihoods.
